⭐ Breast Self-Exam (BSE): A Simple Monthly Routine for Better Breast Health

Breast self-exams play an important role in women’s health. Many healthcare providers, clinics, and educators now use breast anatomy models, silicone breast exam trainers, and breast cancer education tools to help women understand breast structure and practice lump detection safely.

    ⭐Why regular-examination is important ?

    ·  Helps you understand what’s normal for your body

    ·  Helps detect unusual changes earlier

    ·  Supports long-term breast health

    ·  Quick, easy, and can be done at home

Regular self-exams—especially when combined with realistic breast self-exam models—help women recognize unusual breast changes earlier.

⭐ When Should You Perform a Breast Self-Exam?

    ·  3–5 days after your period

    ·  If you no longer have periods: choose the same day every month

    ⭐ How to Perform a Breast Self-Exam(BSE)

Step 1: Look - Visual Inspection in Front of a Mirror

    ·  Shape changes

    ·  Skin dimpling / puckering

    ·   Redness / swelling

    ·   Nipple inversion

    Step 2: Feel While Standing

    ·  Circular pattern

    ·  Up & down pattern

    ·  Wedge pattern

You can also practice this technique using a realistic silicone breast exam trainer, which provides different lump types for training.

Step 3: Feel While Lying Down

    ·  Use opposite hand

    ·  Light → medium → firm pressure

    ·  Cover whole breast + chest wall

Medical students and nursing programs often use breast mass palpation simulators to teach proper technique.

⭐ Common Changes to Look For

When skin is wet, lumps may be easier to feel.

Use the same technique to check for:

    • New lumps or firm nodules

    • Hard, fixed masses

    • Areas of thickness or unusual texture

    • Tenderness or swelling in the armpit

⚠️ When to See a Doctor

Seek medical advice if you notice:

    • A lump that doesn’t change with your cycle

    • Nipple discharge—especially bloody

    • Skin changes (dimpling, redness, swelling)

    • New nipple inversion or deformity

    • Persistent breast pain

    • Enlarged lymph nodes in the armpit

Remember: Finding a change doesn’t automatically mean cancer, but early evaluation is always beneficial.
